First, watch this quick welcome

Before We Breathe: Your Session Welcome + Preparation

Meet Cherish, hear a little about what brought her to breathwork, and learn how to prepare. The video covers both online and in-person sessions. Follow the in-person instructions for your booking.

Your before-session checklist

☐ Check your confirmation email.
You’ll find your session date, time, location, arrival instructions, and any venue-specific details there.

☐ Read the Safety Guide and Contraindications.

☐ Let me know if something changes.
If your health circumstances change after submitting your forms, please reach out before we meet. You can also tell me about accessibility needs or anything that would make participating more comfortable. Email me at cherish@thetraumainformedcollective.org or call/text me at 817-213-6732.

☐ Wear something comfortable.
☐ Eat lightly beforehand.
Avoid a large meal in the one to two hours before your session.

☐ Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs for at least 24 hours beforehand.

☐ Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early.
☐ Leave a little room afterward, if you can.
Plan to stay for the full session, including the grounding and closing time.

What to bring

☐ Water

☐ A yoga mat, if your confirmation email asks you to bring one
Some venues provide mats. Your email will tell you what’s available.

☐ A blanket or extra layer
Bring whatever helps you stay comfortable while lying down.

☐ Your pillow, if you’d like

☐ An eye mask, if you prefer your own
Using an eye mask is optional.

☐ A journal, if you enjoy writing afterward
There’s no homework and no requirement to write anything down.

Your spot will be ready for you. I provide:

  • A yoga mat and bolster

  • A small pillow

  • A blanket

  • A disposable eye mask

  • Your 9D headphones

  • An intuitively chosen gift little comforts for your senses

What happens during the session?

We’ll start by getting settled.
I’ll walk you through the headphones, breathing instructions, session flow, and how to ask for support. There will be time for questions before we begin.

You’ll listen through the headphones.
The journey combines music, immersive audio, and guided prompts. You’ll usually be lying down, with the option to use an eye mask. Let me know beforehand if lying down is uncomfortable or difficult for you.

The intensity depends on the journey.
Some sessions focus on gentle relaxation. Others include more active breathing and invitations for emotional expression or sound. I’ll explain what applies to your session before we start.

You stay in charge of your participation.
You can soften your breath, return to your natural breathing, open your eyes, remove your eye mask, or stop and rest. You can skip any prompt, including invitations to make sound or hold your breath.

If something feels uncomfortable or overwhelming, pause and let me know. You never need to push through to prove you’re doing it right.

We’ll finish with time to settle.
After the audio ends, we’ll take time to reconnect with the room and reflect. Sharing is optional. Listening quietly is welcome, too.

Respecting everyone in the room

  • Please silence your phone and put it away during the session.

  • Keep other participants’ stories and personal experiences private.

  • Please don’t photograph or record other participants.

  • Any photography or video I request will involve separate permission. You can decline.

  • During reflection, we listen without interpreting someone else’s experience or offering unsolicited advice.

You never have to share your story to participate.

A word about touch: you get to choose.

I may offer brief, supportive grounding touch to your shoulders and arms during an in-person session.

Before any supportive touch, I’ll explain what I’m offering and ask for your permission. I’ll wait for a clear yes. Signing a waiver does not give blanket permission for touch.

You can choose a touch-free session, decline any offer, or change your mind at any point. You don’t owe me an explanation.

If you’ve already said yes and later want the touch to stop, say “stop” or use the signal we agree on before the journey. I’ll stop.

Your choice won’t affect the support you receive. We can work together without touch.

After your session

We’ll finish with an integration circle, giving you time to settle, reflect, and connect before heading home.

You’ll also receive a small gift. Each gift includes an affirmation card I intuitively picked, and you’ll intuitively choose the gift you feel drawn to. I love this little moment of discovery.

During the circle, you’re welcome to share your affirmation, something about your experience during the journey, or simply listen. There’s no pressure to speak or explain what came up for you.

We’ll listen without interpreting anyone’s experience or trying to fix anything. Your experience and whatever meaning you find in your affirmation belong to you.

Give yourself time to feel settled before leaving or driving home. I’ll also send a follow-up email with integration resources to support you in the days afterward.
